What is a model?

Models are used for one thing: to sell products, whether it's a new designer jacket, a telephone or a car. The most well know is that of runway and fashion modeling. Modeling can be broken down into different groups:

Where do models come from?

Everywhere. Models are usually "discovered" through modeling agencies or model searches. A model search is basically like a job fair for models. Keep in mind that there may be 20-30 agencies represented, but there are also thousands of models hoping to be chosen. If you are not chosen, do not give up. Try again.

Knowing what modeling agencies, scouts or clients are looking for can increase your chances. You must set yourself apart from the other models.

Another option is an online modeling portfolio. Utahmodels.net posts individual pages for models located in Utah. An advantage is having the portfolio easily accessible. A disadvantage is that thousands of models may also be listed on this site. Make sure you post your best photographs.
